Hello, I have a 788 in 243, left to me by my father. Here is my question. according to the sn. 0637xx. the gun was made in 1967, however according to the Remington's web site the didn't made that 788 in 243 until 1968, So what's the deal???? Any help on this would be great.

Interarms Rossi Serial Number Lookup

My friends great aunt is getting in rough mental and physical shape and his mom has been helping her for many years now. I'll spare the unrelated details but his mom wants to take possession of the gun for his great aunt's own safety and she agrees.

I checked the Rossi website but it's under construction so if anyone can help me I'd appreciate it. After trying a useless string of phone numbers, starting with the Rossi/Taurus customer service and ending with no answer to what model I had, I went to my local PD w/ the model section blank. After explaining my situation to several, at the least friendly, employees they finally decided that since I had a serial number and had made an adequate effort to find the model they just entered Interarms-Rossi as the model and a note with my registration.

I did find that Rossi/Taurus couldn't give me the model for older Interarms-Rossi's. They finally ended up giving me the number, to what sounded like, some private collector/expert(?)'s voice mail which had an email address that I haven't heard back from.
